Bourke Junction - 720 Bouke Street,  Melbourne. Victoria

720 Bourke Street is one of the two propsed office buildings forming part of a mixed use development known as ‘Bourke Junction’ at the corner of Bourke Street and Wurindjeri Way, Docklands.

720 Bourke Street will be an architecturally significant 23 storey building providing the gateway to Docklands from Southern Cross Station. 720 Bourke Street will be an A-grade building designed in accordance with the relevant ESD standards. Many of the environmentally sustainable features will include an energy efficient façade, a percentage of ‘small car’ car parks and black water treatment plant.

The  720 Bourke Street has been designed to be a landmark building, distinguished by a glazed curtain wall façade. In order to maximise the contrast within the façade elements and to accentuate the concept, the central section of the ‘hourglass’ composition wull utilise a dark grey tinted lass with a ‘blind mullion’. In contrast to this the South and North triangulated zones will utilise a high performance ‘clear’ glass. Sun shading elements and extruded, expressed fin mullions are combined with lighter glazing areas to provide required solar performance and provide these skins with textural differentiation.

The planning process has involved extensive consultation with Vic Urban, MCC, DPCD and other stakeholders.
