Brookfield Multiplex to build for Cbus in Melbourne

Brookfield Multiplex has been awarded the design and construct contract for Cbus Property’s 720 Bourke Street development, in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct.

The new $220 million A Grade commercial office development was designed by Hassell Architects.

Its façade will feature extensive greenery via vertical planters, planted terraces and green walls. The development will have a central atrium extending over all floors delivering natural light.

The development will target a 6 star Green Star office v3 rating and a 5 start NABERS commercial building rating.

It will utilise:

• recycled water,
• a 230,000 litre rainwater tank,
• timer-controlled mechanical and electrical systems,
• an under-floor air distribution system
• 720 Bourke Street will also have retail and café space, an open public park, a gym and multi-purpose sporting facilities.

Construction will start immediately and is expected to be complete in mid-2014.
