Cambridge set to race out the door

A new boutique block of 18 apartments look set to race out the door at Randwick’s Newmarket development.

Called Cambridge, the units to be built at 1 Young Street, are designed by Smart Designed Studio. They range in price from $995,000 for a 57sq m one-bedroom unit, $1,633,000 for a 92sq m two-bedroom apartment through to more than $2 million for a 114sq m three-bedroom apartment.

The First release of the Newmarket units, developed by Cbus Property and being sold through Colliers International, was hugely popular – all 128 units sold on launch day last October.

Cambridge, which launches this month, sits near the historic Newmarket Big Stable, which has housed thousands of race horses over the past 130 years.

The apartments boast high ceilings and the kitchens have stone benchtops, bespoke joinery, large pantries and Italian appliances. The living areas have adjoining terraces or courtyards and Arcadia Landscape Architecture has designed the communal garden areas. The first stage of Newmarket, called Figtree Pocket, includes “The Deck” – a communal outdoor entertainment space beneath a huge 130-year-old Figtree.

The development features a 5000sq m central green space plus gardens and existing mature trees.

The Newmarket project is perfectly positioned between the city and the beach. It’s just 6km from the CBD – it’s a short ride via the new light rail that is less than 800m from Cambridge’s door. And Coogee beach is only 2km away.
Colliers International managing director residential, Peter Chittenden, said key transport links and the quality of the apartments were a big attraction for buyers.

Construction will be complete in mid-2020.
