NOVEMBER 2020

Cbus Property ‘s Newmarket Randwick masterplan project in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs has been recognised with the Medium Density Development Award in the 2020 Urban Taskforce Australia Development Excellence Awards.

The independent judging panel commended Cbus Property on the outstanding mixed-use nature of the vibrant Newmarket precinct, architecturally designed by Bates Smart (Stage 1 – Newmarket Residences) and Smart Design Studio (Stage 1A – Figtree Pocket), with landscaping design by Arcadia Landscape Architecture.

Cbus Property’s retention of the Newmarket site’s heritage elements and the adaptation of the former Newmarket Sales Ring into a children’s adventure playground were also applauded.

The judging panel was chaired by Chris Johnson, former NSW Government Architect and former Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Taskforce.

“The jury was very impressed by the number and the quality of entries in this year’s awards,” Mr Johnson said in an Urban Taskforce media release.

“We had a record number of entries, including developments from most capital cities, across a range of building types.

“The Medium Density Development Award went to Cbus Property’s Newmarket Randwick. This high-quality, mid-rise apartment development incorporating a widely applauded, new interactive children’s playground was successfully designed by Bates Smart and Smart Design Studio,” Mr Johnson said.

The Urban Taskforce award is testament to Cbus Property’s vision for the Newmarket Randwick masterplan and the tremendous work done by the project team to date. Cbus Property congratulates all involved.
